GSSE Malta 1993

 

 

From 23rd to 25th May 1993, the 5th Games of the Small States of Europe took place in Malta. The Monegasque delegation was made up of one hundred and ten people, led by Ms Yvette Lambin-Berti and Doctor Louis Orecchia.

The athletes competed in seven disciplines: Athletics, Cycling, Judo, Sailing, Swimming, Tennis and Volley Ball. Assisted by Evelyne Monde, the head of mission, Christian Zabaldano won 30 medals in all, including seven gold:

 

 

  • 2 in athletics:Sonia Delprete and Lachcen Essoussi,
  • 2 in swimming: Michel Arnoux,
  • 1 in tennis: Emmanuelle Gagliardi,
  • 1 in judo: Gilles Pagès,
  • 1 in sailing: Damien Desprat-Lerale.

Out of the eight competing countries, the Principality of Monaco once again confirmed its position in fourth place.
