A few Dates

 

  • 1920: First Monegasque delegation at the Anvers Olympic Games in Athletics and Gymnastics.
  • 1924: Paris Olympic Games, the only “Bronze” medal won to date by Julien Médecin in Architecture.
  • 1927: Monaco hosts the 26th I.O.C. session
  • 1949: Appointment of the Hereditary Prince Rainier as an I.O.C. member for Monaco.
  • 1950: Prince Pierre replaces his son as I.O.C. member
  • 1953: Official recognition of the M.O.C. by Sovereign Order of 31st December 1952.
  • 1968: The Olympic torch crosses the Principality before heading towards Grenoble.
  • 1973: Monaco hosts the 4th General Assembly of the National Olympic Committees of Europe
  • 1975: Election of M.O.C. members by the General Assembly of each Monegasque Sports Federation (every 4 years).
  • 1985: Opening of the new Louis II Stadium.
  • 1986: H.S.H. the Hereditary Prince Albert takes his oath as a member of the I.O.C.
  • 1987: Organisation of the 2nd Games of the Small States of Europe.
  • 1988: H.S.H. Prince Rainier III receives the insignia of the Gold Olympic Order.
  • 1989: Introduction of Sports Grants by H.S.H. Prince Rainier III.
  • 1993: The Principality hosts the 101st I.O.C. session.
  • 1994: The I.O.C. awards the 1993 Pierre de Coubertin Olympic Cup to the Monegasque Olympic Committee for the exceptional organisation of the 101st I.O.C. session.
  • 1994: Nomination of the Hereditary Prince Albert as President of the M.O.C.
  • 1996: Establishment of the Monegasque Association of Olympic Athletes according to the Hereditary Prince Albert’s wishes.
  • 1997: The 4th World I.O.C. Congress on Sport Sciences is held in Monaco.
  • 2001: 30th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees. Election of the new President, Mr Mario Pescante.
  • 2002: Signing of new agreements for High Level Athletes.
  • 2003: Signing of the “Copenhagen Declaration on anti-doping in sport". Implementation by the M.O.C. of a policy to combat doping in the Principality and elaboration of the various legislative texts
  • 2007: Organisation of the 12th Games of the Small States of Europe.
