GSSE Andorra 2005

 

     From 30th May to 4th June 2005, Monaco hosted the 11th Games of the Small States of Europe. 793 athletes in total took part in the Games.

 

The Monegasque delegation, plunged into mourning by the death of H.S.H. Prince Rainier III, took part with 70 athletes, 13 trainers, 3 members of the medical profession and 9 members of the Press Centre, in the various sports events.

 

This time several records were broken:

 

 

1 - The number of gold medals (11), including those won by:

  • The Beach Volley team,

 

 

Anna Bruno and Magali Muratore

 

  • The women’s 10 m Air Rifle Shooting event : Fabienne Pasetti,
  • In athletics, 800 m flat: Brite Etès,

 

 

 

Brice Etès

  • In swimming, the 100 m backstroke: Eric Rottinger.

 

2 - The total number of medals: 37 (8 gold and 18 bronze),

 

3 - The number of medals won by a single athlete: 8 for the swimmer François-Xavier Paquot (7 bronze and 1 silver).

François-Xavier Paquot : 8 times medallist

 

Among the 9 federations represented (Athletics, Beach Volley, Cycling, Judo, Swimming, Taekwondo, Tennis, Table Tennis and Shooting), swimming brought in the greatest number of medals (2 gold, 2 silver and 9 bronze).
