GSSE Luxembourg 1995

 

  

 

From 29th May to 3rd June 1995, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg hosted the 6th Games of the Small States of Europe. The Monegasque delegation, led by Ms Yvette Lambin-Berti, assisted by Solange Ragazzoni, head of mission, took part in these Games together with 57 athletes.

 

 

The opening was announced by H.R.H. Grand Duke Jean in the presence of H.R.H. Hereditary Grand Duke Henri, H.S.H. Hereditary Prince Albert and H.E. Mr Samaranch.

 

Behind judo contestant Thierry Vatrican, the standard bearer, 4 female athletes in traditional Monegasque costume enter the stadium, followed by the officials and all the athletes.

 

 

Monaco won 24 medals :

  • 3 gold medals in swimming: Nicolas in the 100m and 200m butterfly, Christophe Verdino in the 200m breaststroke,
  • 4 silver medals :
  • - in athletics: Magali Guedon in the 800m,
  • - in swimming: Laurie Boucquillon in the 50m freestyle,
  • - 1 in tennis: Emanuelle Gagliardi in the singles and doubles, Jessica Giodano in the doubles
  • 17 bronze medals in athletics (2), judo (4), swimming (6), tennis (4) and shooting (1).

The results did not change the general ranking established for the 4 previous editions, placing the Principality of Monaco in 4th position out of the 8 competing countries.
