  In May 1989, the 3rd Games of the Small States of Europe took place in Cyprus. One hundred and fifty two athletes, led by Ms Yvette Lambin-Berti, Vice President of the M.O.C., took part in the following events: athletics, basket ball, cycling, judo, swimming, shooting, sailing, tennis and volley ball.

This delegation was the largest that had ever left the Principality to take part in an international competition.

 

 

Cyprus, 17th May 1989 – Representatives of the Principality enter the Nicosia Stadium

 

 

 

Monaco won 21 medals, including 5 gold and 7 silver, confirming the 4th place they had acquired at the previous edition. Cyprus was the overall winner with 79 medals, beating Iceland (50 medals) and Luxembourg (46 medals).
