- On 10th October, the Monegasque Olympic Committee took part in the 15th edition of Heritage Day focused on: "Monaco and Sport". Over 260 people visited the exhibition which presented all the Olympic parades as well as a retrospective of photos from 2010 (Vancouver OG, Singapore YOG and Olympic Day).

- From 11th to 14th October, the 21st edition of "Sportel" took place.

The 12th "Illustrated Sports Book Prize" once again this year featured a large number of extremely interesting books (36 books from 4 countries).

  • The French Olympic National Committee and Sports Prize was awarded to "Pilotes Ferrari" by Frédéric Brun / Yann-Brice Dherbier (YB Editions – France).
  • The Monegasque Olympic Committee Prize went to "A Beautiful Game" by Tom Watt (Harper Collins Publishers – USA)
  • The Jury's Special Mention went to "Portraits Légendaires de Marins" by Rémy Fiere (Tana Editions – France).

  • 19th October: Executive Committee of the Games of the Small States of Europe

 

This meeting was held in the presence of the President and Secretary General of the European Olympic Committees.

 

- Amendment to article 1 of the Articles of Association.

- Affirm the strong link that unites the Games of the Small States of Europe to the European Olympic Committees.

- Support and assistance from the European Olympic Committees for the Games of the Small States of Europe, whilst remaining under the aegis of the IOC.

 

  • The 17th General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees took place from 20th to 23rd October.

 

The A.N.O.C. executive board was elected. Mr Mario Vazquez Rana (MEX) was re-elected as President (a position he has held since its creation in 1979). A presentation was given on progress concerning the work of the Organising Committees for the Olympics in London 2012, Sochi 2014, Rio 2016, the Winter Olympics in Innsbruck 2012 and the summer YOG in Nanjing 2014. Anti-doping efforts, Olympic education and marketing in sports were also discussed.

 

  • 23rd October: The 1st World Olympic Sports Convention

brought together delegates of National Olympic Committees and Government representatives in charge of sport, who exchanged their points of view on cooperation and the relationship between the Olympic Movement and governments.

 

The topics broached concerned:

 

- autonomy in sport

- cooperation between Governments and NOC for Olympic Education, Sports and the Environment

- women in sport

 

The conference concluded with a declaration recommending :

- that relations be developed between the Olympic Movement and Governments with a common vision for cooperation, consultation, coordination and respect for national laws, in line with the principles of the Olympic Charter.

 

 

- From 18th to 21st November: A Seminar for the Chiefs of Mission of the 10th Winter Youth Olympic Festival was held in Liberec in the Czech Republic. The Monegasque delegate visited the venues and obtained useful information with a view to the participation of a young skier, Mr Nicolas Boisbouvier, aged 16.

- From 26th to 27th November, the 39th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees took place in Belgrade, Serbia. During the meeting, 2 representatives of the E.O.C. were elected to the A.N.O.C.'s Executive Committee.

 

  • Cities presented for the hosting of the 2018 OG.
  • Feasibility study on hosting "European Games".

 

The National Olympic Committees were asked for their opinion via a questionnaire.

- Olympic Education and Culture

- Medical and Anti-doping

- International relations

- Athletes

 

 

The organising cities for the European Youth Olympic Festivals 2015 were elected.

 

- in winter: Vorarlberg and Liechtenstein (AUT/LIE)

- in summer: Tbilisi (GEO)

 

Sochi was selected for the General Assembly in 2011.

 

- From 5th to 7th December: 7th World Conference on Sport, Education and Culture in Durban, South Africa

 

The Conference was organised by the IOC in partnership with UNESCO. Various topics were discussed with a key theme prevailing: a new way to view sport as a vehicle to promote educational and moral values.

 

- increased sports activities at the earliest age,

- youth mobilisation and involvement.
